Dairy Group is a proud sponsor of the Nanaga MTB happening in the Eastern Cape on Sunday, 27 March this year. It is going to be a very exciting event which includes hard climbing and a flowing single track through the beautiful Cacadu District. You will see us especially in the family zone, where participating families will be entertained.
What is Nanaga MTB?
The Nanaga MTB is a trail between the Nanaga and Zuney areas. The Nanaga MTB race is sponsored by the Sunshine Coast Charity Trust in the Eastern Cape. The primary goal of the Nanaga MTB is to raise funds to support the Sunshine Coast Charity Trust, as well as provide a premier mountain bike event.
In partnership with Big O’ Sports, an event management organisation, Sunshine Coast Charity Trust aims to create an event in which the competing athletes, whether old, young, advanced, or novice, can explore their skills, engage in friendly competition, and push themselves to grow.
This biking event has been hosted since 2013 with an initial 45 riders in attendance. Since then, the event has grown to accommodate 1000 riders in 2018. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event has not been hosted since 2019, but that is changing this year!
Sunshine Coast Charity Trust
The Sunshine Coast Charity Trust was founded in November 2004 by a group of farmers’ wives. Their goal is to reach people in Colchester, Paterson, and Alexandria to make a difference in surrounding communities.
They have established a day care centre in Alexandria that provides over 50 children with meals, homework and counselling. In Paterson, they support an HIV/AIDS centre that also runs a daycare and cares for over 180 children. In Colchester, they opened a swopshop with the intention of uplifting over 1000 school children in the area. They are focused on implementing changes that can be sustained for future generations to come.
The Sunshine Coast Charity Trust believes that through fundraising, they can make a difference to communities that have been neglected and side-lined due to the fact that they are not situated in the city centre of Gqeberha.
Their objectives are to address several needs within these communities in order to add value and help the people within these towns:
– To address the HIV/AIDS epidemic by providing necessary education, medication, and supplements.
– To provide basic necessities such as food, clothing, blankets, hygiene, and medication.
– To provide educational training and tools such as teachers, school fees, uniforms, and opportunities for tertiary education.
– To provide financial support, equipment for facilities, and develop sustainability practices within these communities.
The success of the Nanaga MTB event is depended on the support of sponsors. At Dairy Group, we encourage you to contribute to this amazing cause that is dedicated to helping communities in the Eastern Cape.
